About this place
A bowl of Salt Soba need not end with the noodles and broth: tai rice makes a satisfying pairing. Diners have described the clear broth as rich with chicken and seafood flavour, and the thin noodles as a good match. The version with egg also offers a soft-boiled egg and menma; one diner noted the aroma of truffle, too. Choose Salt Soba if you want to savour the bowl’s aromas, or Yuzu Salt Soba for a citrus accent. A diner who tried the yuzu version said its fragrance and gentle bitterness brought an extra dimension to the broth.
Tai rice offers another way to enjoy the meal. It can be eaten on its own, or finished with the remaining salt broth poured over it—a welcome way to carry the bowl’s savoury flavour through to the end. Go for Salt Soba on its own when you want the noodles to take centre stage, or add tai rice for a more substantial meal. Men-Urata also serves kelp-water salt dipping Soba and Kujo spring onion gyoza, offering options for those who prefer dipping noodles or want a small plate alongside their bowl.
Dine-in service is available, with lunch and dinner menus. Opening hours vary by day, but the restaurant stays open until 2:40 the following day on every day except Sunday, making it an option for a late meal.
